About the Workshop
This workshop aims to create a framework of analysis for the party abroad and analyse empirical data to understand the variation in level of operation of the party abroad in an international context. While political scientists have studied the political party at the national level for a number of decades, developing theories and the accompanying empirical evidence of the various stages of party development – there is relatively little discourse on the existence and operations of the political party outside its national boundaries. as people live increasingly outside of their country of origin, whether due to freedom of movement within the European Union, forms of migration, or the recent refugee crisis, the actions and operations of political parties outside of their home countries becomes increasingly relevant.
