Alumna Anne Gerritsen holds Inaugural Lecture

Anne Gerritsen (NIAS Fellow 2013/14) is appointed Professor of Asia-Europe Intercultural Dynamics at Leiden University. On 12 December, she will hold her Inaugural Lecture titled "The global life of a soya bottle".

From the period from September 2013 through August 2018, Dr Anne Gerritsen is appointed as part-time Professor of Asia-Europe Intercultural Dynamics with special attention to material culture, art, and human development, sponsored by the Kikkoman Foundation and the Association of Friends of Asian Art (VVAK).

About Anne Gerritsen

Prof Gerritsen is Associate Professor (Reader) in the History Department at Warwick University. She holds an MA in Chinese Studies from Leiden University, and a PhD in East Asian Languages & Civilizations from Harvard University (2001). Her research interests include (Chinese) material culture within (global) history, theory and method of history, and gender.
Gerritsen was a NIAS Fellow 2013/14, doing research on the Chinese perspective on the global production of porcelain in the early modern period.
