Seminar - Emotional Democracy: Feeling our way through Politics and Protest

1 May 2013

In a seminar on 7 May 2013, sociologist Jim Jasper will explore emotions and politics.

About the Seminar

Emotions play a number of roles in motivating, channeling, and suppressing political action, in fact it is hard to understand any action without examining the emotions involved. They are a normal part of regrettable mistakes, but just as much a part of our most noble acts and our most rational ones.

Workshop

This seminar by Jim Jasper is the opening lecture of the NIAS workshop “Emotional Democracy” convened by Kati Roettger and Josef Früchtl (UvA, Philosophy). For more information about the workshop, its programme, theoretical background and participants, see the document here.
