New Constructive Advanced Theme Group Established

Constructive Advanced Thinking Theme Group (CAT)

23 June 2020
The theme group can periodically meet and stay at multiple NETIas institutes, whose networks will also be made open for them.

The Network of European Institutes for Advanced Study (NETIas) was formed in 2004 to start a dialogue between the different Institutes for Advanced Studies, which are all founded on the principle of facilitating curiosity driven research.

With few guidelines and a very light application process, CAT is designed to maximize the creativity of groups of early career researchers

During the time of social distancing, the members of NETIas reaffirmed that the experience of physically meeting cannot be replicated online and the value NETIas collectively brings to academia can be capitalised on. This led to the establishment of the Constructive Advanced Thinking Theme Group (CAT). It aims to bring early-career researchers together as a theme group and foster networks through the different Institutes for Advanced Studies across Europe including NIAS.

The program brings 3-5 individuals together for three years, and they can periodically meet and stay at multiple NETIas Institutes, whose network will also be made open for them. One of the criteria’s is that projects have to have a strong focus on tackling current or emergent societal challenges.
