Theo D'haen, Fellow in 1999, is now Emeritus Professor of English & Comparative Literature, Leuven University and Emeritus Professor of English & American Literature, Leiden University.

“Since my NIAS Fellowship (1999) I moved from Leiden to Leuven, and retired at 65 in 2015. I do keep active, having published some 25 books (4 written or co-written, the rest edited or co-edited) and 100+ articles since the end of my NIAS Fellowship. My most recent book publication is World Literature in an Age of Geopolitics (Brill 2021). I also for many years served as Trustee and Board Member of the Academia Europaea, and of its journal European Review (Cambridge UP).”
