Interaction and Space in New York

NIAS Seminar

Simona-Luiza Țigriș, Assistant Professor of Spanish Language Structure at the University of Bucharest, will talk about her project "Interaction and Space in New York in the Writings of Giannina Braschi, Nicholasa Mohr and Esmeralda Santiago".

How does space influence interaction between characters in novels about immigration? What is the role of silence in interaction? Does interaction help round off the characterization of a character? How does interaction shape Puerto Rican identity in New York? How do characters appropriate space? How do characters save or lose “face” in conversations?
