NIAS Fellow Joost Augusteijn presents book on Patrick Pearse

30 October 2010

On Saturday, 30 October 2010 Joost Augusteijn, NIAS Fellow 2010/11 of the Theme Group “Terrorists on Trial. The Court Room as a Stage in the Struggle for Publicity, Public Support and Legitimacy” will present his latest book Patrick Pearse: The Making of a Revolutionary at the Pearse Museum in Dublin, Ireland.

About the book: Patrick Pearse was not only a leader of the 1916 Easter Rising but also one of the main ideologues of physical-force nationalism in Ireland. Based on much new material, the book provides an intimate account of the development of his ideas on cultural regeneration, education, patriotism and militarism and places them in a European context.
