Research Collaboration: Reflections on Theories, Concepts, Methods, Practices

Workshop

Current Van Doorn Fellow Evelyn Ruppert organises an international workshop on collaborating on large multi-researcher, interdisciplinary projects in the social sciences and the humanities.

Aim of the Workshop

The workshop takes place over two days.  Day 1 involves a larger event to which NIAS Fellows could join; Day 2 involves only the researchers from the European Research Council (ERC) project.

Day 1: The programme will involve short presentations from four recent ERC projects on their experiences doing research collaboration. The idea is to have an exchange of ideas towards thinking about alternative models and approaches (methods, concepts, theories, etc.) for collaborating on large multi-researcher, interdisciplinary projects in the social sciences and the humanities. In addition to an exchange of ideas and experiences, it also aims to provide support for organising future projects and especially for PhD, postdoctoral and early career researchers as they consider undertaking their own proposals. After the workshop, ARITHMUS will write up a short summary of key issues and points raised.

Day 2: This will only involve 6 ARITHMUS researchers. In the morning, they will have collective discussion of their past accomplishments as a research team, present activities and future plans. In the afternoon, they will have bi/tri-lateral working sessions on various co-authored articles in-progress.
