Willem F. Duisenberg Fellowship

The Willem F. Duisenberg Fellowship Foundation was set up in 2007 in honour of Willem F. Duisenberg and builds on the Jelle Zijstra Fellowship programme. The Foundation is sponsored by De Nederlandsche Bank, the Dutch Ministry of Finance and several major Dutch financial institutions: the ING Group, Rabobank Nederland, ABN-AMRO and AEGON.

Willem F. Duisenberg Fellowship

Invitational fellowships are offered to researchers from abroad who have an outstanding record in the field of applied monetary economics, macro-economics or public finance. Researchers carry out their research project as a member of the NIAS academic community and have the opportunity to meet with Dutch academics, policy makers and bankers. This residential fellowship includes accommodation, research facilities and carries a monthly stipend of €10,000.

Willem F. Duisenberg Fellowship Prize

The biennial Willem F. Duisenberg Fellowship prize is awarded to young scholars from the Netherlands or abroad who show exceptional creativity, significant accomplishment in applied policy research and promise for important future advances. The prize consists of €15,000, a commemorative medal and the opportunity to organise a one-day workshop at NIAS.

Governance

The Willem F. Duisenberg Fellowship (WFDF) Foundation Board consists of:

  • Chair: Prof. Victor Halberstadt 
  • Treasurer: Dr. Theo Mulder (Rector NIAS)
  • Member: Esther van Duuren

 

The WFDF Advisory Board consists of:

  • One representative from each of the sponsoring institutions
  • Four experts from the field of economics (non-voting).

 

The WFDF Foundation Board and Advisory Board members do not receive remuneration.

The WFDF Foundation does not have employees.

NIAS provides administrative and organization support in exchange for a small annual fee.

- Invitational fellowships for researchers from abroad who have an outstanding record in the field of applied monetary economics, macro-economics or public finance.
- Biennial prize to encourage young scholars from the Netherlands or abroad who show exceptional creativity, significant accomplishment in applied policy research and promise for important future advances.
