31 May 2021

Annick De Houwer was a NIAS Fellow in 1995/96 (sharing a scholarship with Pieter Muysken, sadly recently deceased) and was part of the steering committee for the NIAS Dutch-Hungarian Language Contact project (1997-2000).

She recently (on March 31, 2021) retired from her position as Professor of Language Acquisition and Multilingualism at the University of Erfurt, Germany but she has now been appointed as Director of the Harmonious Bilingualism Network HaBilNet (www.habilnet.org), a network that promotes and carries out research on harmonious bilingual development.

Annick De Houwer has also been elected as President of the International Association for the Study of Child Language (IASCL) for the period July 2021-July 2024.
