The call for the newly established Urban Citizen Fellowship (starting April 2020) is now open. This fellowship is set up together with the Municipality of Amsterdam to stimulate the use of advanced research in political deliberation and public policy making for the city of Amsterdam.
Closing Date: 14 February 2020 (extended deadline) for the first fellowship starting in April 2020 for a period of 3 months (full-time) or 5 months (part-time).

About the Fellowship
The first fellowship would be granted for a period of 3-5 months dependent on the proposal and availability of the candidate. Starting in April 2020, the research project would be focused on exploratory research on issues around urban citizenship and the implications for urban policy making, to set the tone for continued research around this topic.
Research proposals around topics of Democratization – including Inclusivity, Representation and Citizenship- are prioritized. Particular attention could be paid to the tension amongst participative and representative forms of democracy.
This fellowship offers researchers the chance to be part of the international and interdisciplinary academic network of NIAS-KNAW, and at the same time contribute to informed political discussions of the Municipality of Amsterdam.

Eligibility
- At least 3 years post-PhD experience
- Expertise on the topics surrounding Urban Citizenship, with a focus on issues of democratization
