Seminar - The (un)Intended Consequences of European Parliament Elections

In a seminar on 5 June,  Silke Adam, Hajo Boomgaarden, Wouter van der Brug, Juergen Maier, Michaela Maier, and Claes de Vreese, who form the NIAS Theme Group “European Elections and Public Cynicism“, will present the results of their research at NIAS.

About the Seminar

Claes de Vreese, theme group coordinator: “In the past months our Theme Group has worked on the questions whether the nature of European elections is changing and whether contestation over the role of the European Union decreases public support for the EU. Our projects investigate the role of parties, media and voters, and the interactions between them. In this seminar we will present some of the key results of the spring fellows’ work and our book in progress on the (un)intended consequences of European Parliament elections. We also take a look into the future and discuss research plans around the 2014 EP elections which were developed at NIAS. Fellows Adam, Boomgaarden, van der Brug, Maier, Maier, and de Vreese will make short presentations followed by a general discussion.”
