On Wednesday 16 February 2011 at 18.00, prof. dr. Jaap van den Herik, Guest of the Rector 2010/11, will speak at a symposium called Human vs. Computer.
The department Information Science of the University of Groningen organises a symposium about Watson, IBM’s supercomputer that challenges two champions in the popular game show Jeopardy! and wins.
Jaap van den Herik will explain the challenges that lay ahead for Watson and the implications of the abilities of such supercomputers. Prof dr. Johan Bos will talk about the difficulties of the making of such computers, dr. Gosse Bouma will discuss the commercial implications of the developments.
