Fellow Naomi Ellemers appointed Distinguished Professor at Utrecht University

Professor Naomi Ellemers, currently at NIAS, has been appointed as Distinguished Professor of Utrecht University. Per 1 September 2015, she will have full freedom to work on innovative education and interdisciplinary research.

Prof Ellemers will join the select group of professors with the title Distinguished Professor. Distinguished Professors of Utrecht University are appointed because of their vision that transcends disciplinary boundaries and their international standing.

Naomi Ellemers is a social psychologist and a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). In her research, she focuses on power and differences in status, diversity within organisations, ethical climate and work motivation. In 2009, she won the KNAW Merian Prize for outstanding women academics. In 2010, she was awarded the Spinoza Prize. She will be associated with the research theme Institutions for Open Societies. At NIAS, she is working on book on the social functions of shared moral values for the regulation of behaviour within and between groups.
