My NIAS project had to do with the political development of the province of Holland during the early decades of the Revolt. Since pertinent collections at the Rijksarchief in Zuid-Holland in The Hague offer a good deal of indirect evidence about how the Revolt was financed, I decided early on to focus on income, expenditure, and above all the huge debts amassed.
