Under the auspices of the nucleus, “The History of Dutch Concepts”. I wrote an extensive piece on the origin of the ‘fatherland’ concept in late-medieval and early-modern historiography of the Netherlands. As a result of the research on the ‘fatherland’-concept I started working on the concepts ‘republic’ and ‘citizen’, which culminated in a book on “Word and Image: Representation of the past in late-medieval Dutch historiography”.
