Norval Smith, born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1946. Ph.D. from the University of Amsterdam. Associate Professor of Linguistics at the University of Amsterdam.

In my semester at NIAS I studied the theoretical ramifications of the phonological phenomenon of Vowel Harmony. I also participated in the activities of the phonological section of the Logical Problem of Language Acquisition research group to some extent.
