Robert Rydell, born in Evanston, Illinois, USA, in 1952. Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles. Professor of History at Montana State University, Bozeman.

Fellow (1 September 1991 – 30 June 1992)

During the year, I served as co-chair of the theme group examining the reception of American mass culture in Europe. My own monograph, Modernizing America: The Century of Progress Expositions, is now complete and under contract with the University of Chicago Press. In addition to finishing this book, I served as guest curator for an exhibition on world’s fairs at the Smithsonian Institution.
