THE MAGIC SHOW (WORKING TITLE), A NOVEL

Project Description

My plan at NIAS will be to continue working on a novel-in-progress about the lineage of an enigmatic 60s-era radical. The story will explore the aftereffects of late-60s radicalism in the U.S. as well as the intergenerational legacies of the Holocaust. An important figure in the tale is a forgotten sleight-of-hand illusionist of European Jewish origin. Pre-war Scheveningen is to be one of the locales where he performed, so I am looking forward to exploring the areas in and around The Hague as part of my research. I will be open to any and all sources of inspiration.
