PERFORMING THE ARCHIVE

My main project was researching and writing my second book, “Performing the Archive”. Whereas I had conducted previous research that served as a basis for the case study chapters, the theoretical framework for the book had to be fully researched. During my fellowship I carried out literary research and studied online archives and portals. It resulted in a revised book organisation, drafts of the first two chapters, and substantial research files for the other chapters. I also wrote a lengthy article, “Who Knows Television? Online Access and the Gatekeepers of Knowledge”, which was accepted by the peer reviewed journal Critical Studies in Television. Besides these activities, I finished a funding application for a research project on audio-visual media, cases of severe injustice and their adjudication, and started a new research line on advertising film. I also edited a volume on media art preservation and exhibition.
