HISTORY OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE LIFE SCIENCES AND THE LANGUAGE SCIENCES. METHODOLOGIES, THEORIES AND PRACTICES

While at NIAS, research was mainly conducted in preparation for the books entitled “Eco-evolutionary Models of Language Change and Language Evolution” and “Language and Communication: Relationship Between Animal Biologists, Psychologists, and Linguists”, both examining the relationship between the life sciences and the language sciences but from different angles. I also completed a co-authored book chapter and three articles, all in press or submitted to refereed journals, including a paper related to my ongoing research presented in lectures and conferences in Paris, Cambridge, and at NIAS.

The unusual excellent research conditions and interactions with my Fellow-colleagues at NIAS substantially enhanced the quality of my work and of the questions under study, as well as broadened my bibliographical references
