THE WORLD-SYSTEM THEORY FROM AN EPISTEMOLOGICAL POINT OF VIEW
At NIAS I had the opportunity to start the research for my Habilitationsschrift, which will be a long-term project. The main task of my research during my stay was to lay the groundwork for a much broader and deeper knowledge of the details of the various theoretical frameworks and intellectual sources that shape the various explanatory approaches usually subsumed under the title of “world-system” theory. In that respect, my work (especially during the first couple of months at NIAS) was largely research- and reading-based, and I gained considerable progress in knowledge within the research field in question. Moreover, I organized a successful conference on liberalism/neoliberalism and co-authored a subsequent monograph on the basis of my last book on the international reception of the critique of political economy since the 1960s.
