UNTOLD STORIES AND STIGMATIZED IDENTITIES IN SOUTH AFRICA

I was part of the theme group “Coming to terms with a Shattered World: A Multi-Disciplinary Approach to Mediations of Violence in Africa”. The work focused on white South African veterans of the war on the borders of Angola and Namibia. NIAS provided a space for reflection and research as well as easy access to appropriate literature and erudite colleagues in the field, all under one ‘roof’. My stay at NIAS resulted in the completion of most of the research, submission of articles for publication and the first draft of a chapter in an edited book.
