THE RECEPTION OF NETHERLANDISH ART IN INDIA
The period of my fellowship at NIAS resulted in the detailed study of: a) the visual representations of the globe and the hour-glass in Mughal miniature painting; and, b) the Dutch visuals of the seascape of Indian harbours, port s, ships and riverine marts and their impacts on the Indian visuals of river crafts and sea-going vessels.
The two topics are closely inter-related and have significant bearing on the study of the Reception of Netherlandish Art in Asia.
