THE GROTIAN CONCEPT OF RIGHTS: RESISTANCE AND THE NEW POLITICS

My research during this year was closely connected to co-ordinating the Grotius Theme Group. Editing the new edition of the De iure praede’s text was an important part of my activities, which led to further strengthening of the co-operation with the Huygens Instituut. I worked on the text together with Jan Waszink and Henk Nellen and worked on annotation issues with George Wright and Laurence Winkel and supported Martine van Ittersum and Peter Borschberg in their work on watermarks and the dating of the actual writing of the autograph of DIP. The structural characteristics of DIP had my special interest, and I presented various papers on this aspect. I produced, finalised and edited other articles on Grotius for conferences and specially commissioned collective volumes. I look forward to editing the conference papers, to be published early 2006.
