Fellow (1 September 1997 – 30 June 1998)
During my ten months at NIAS I was a member of the interdisciplinary theme group on “Tatian’s Diatessaron”. Working in a team and being a member of the 1997/98 NIAS community was a very rewarding and enriching experience. Most of my time was devoted to preparing a critical edition of the first five chapters of the Gospel of John in the Diatessaron. We worked out a modus operandi which will enable us to continue our co operation even after the NIAS year. Apart from the actual collation and presentation of our multilingual text material, I was responsible for the Italian and Greek textual witnesses. Publication of this complex edition (in two volumes) is scheduled for the year 2000. In 1999 we plan to publish a book, “‘The Wedding at Cana’ (John 2:1 11) in the Diatessaron”, to which I contributed three chapters, one on the Old Italian tradition, one on the Greek tradition, and one on the use of information technology in such a project.
