Aim of the workshop
Research on the multimodal aspects of communication has grown exponentially in the last decade. This quick development has created a wealth of empirical data which is making us rethink our models of human communication. The present workshop will discuss the current models for the integration of multimodal information in human communication and will reflect upon the ways in which these models will have to be adapted in the light of the new information gathered. At the same time, the workshop will serve to lay the groundwork for the establishment of a consortium with scholars from different related fields in multimodal communication, which would abe able to apply competitively for grants at an international level with a research project based on how the integration of multimodal dimensions informs us about the mechanisms of human communication and cognition.
