This is an in depth study argues that Bengal’s prosperity which was so marked during the first half of the 18th century, came to an end gradually after Plassey, and the second half of the century there followed an economic impoverishment of Bengal under the Easr India company and its servants. the arguments are supported by both quantitive and qualitive evidence.
