Public Lecture - Tommy Wieringa @ Wassenaar Library

26 May 2011

On Thursday 26 May 2011, at 20.00, Tommy Wieringa, NIAS Writer-in-Residence 2010/11, will give a lecture at the Wassenaar Library.

In his last book, Ga niet naar zee [Do not go to the sea], Tommy Wieringa moves between worldly bustle and the serenity of convents and the countryside.  The reader follows the writer’s life and learns that life’s successes or failures do not make a difference to his writings – although it is easier to write if properly fed, rather than going hungry.

Tommy Wieringa will read a selection of shorter pieces from Ga niet naar zee which he wrote over the course of the years. Tommy Wieringa‘s lecture is autobiographical. He will talk about his work and life and hopes it will be an interactive evening.

The lecture is in Dutch. Click here for more info and registration.
