Harrison Ryker, born in Oakland, California, USA, in 1938. Ph.D. from the University of Washington. Senior Lecturer in Music at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

While at NIAS I was busy with research for a book on the Dutch composer Willem Pijper. Although hopes of finishing it proved unrealistic, it was possible to complete the first eight chapters.
