Jan Lucassen, born in Meijel, the Netherlands, in 1947. Ph.D. from Utrecht University. Associate Professor of Social and Economic History at the VU University, Amsterdam.

The two topics I have been working on concerning Labour History (mainly Europe C16th-C19th) are: 1) labour migration and 2) early labour organisations as, were part of my research in the NIAS nucleus ‘The History of the Netherlands in a comparative perspective, c. 1580-1850’.
