Erhard Blankenburg, born in Duisburg, Germany, in 1938. Ph.D. from the University of Basel. Professor of Soiciology at the VU University, Amsterdam.

Two activities brought me to NIAS: the first was to coordinate a study group on the sociological comparison of law. The second was to prepare and edit a volume on an ‘Indicator comparison of European legal Cultures’.
