Renewed Fellowship: NIAS × KB National Library of the Netherlands
12 February 2026The fellowship provides a dedicated space for researchers and artists to pursue work that engages with pressing societal questions, explores rich collections, or expands the boundaries of the library’s research agenda.
Proposals are encouraged that tackle societal or practical challenges, work across disciplines, or take an international and comparative perspective. The programme promotes research that is both timely and far-reaching, connecting scholarship with broader cultural and social concerns.
KB Fellows become part of a dynamic, interdisciplinary community at NIAS in Amsterdam, benefiting from rigorous exchange across the humanities and social sciences. Fellows are invited to utilise the KB’s extensive collections and expertise and to contribute insights throughout their residency. Publications arising from the fellowship are made openly accessible under Creative Commons, supporting transparent and inclusive scholarship.
Applications are now open for researchers and artists seeking to engage with this unique opportunity. Detailed information on eligibility, requirements, and deadlines can be found on the KB-fellowship page on the NIAS website.
Wilma van Wezenbeek, General Director of the KB, highlights the fellowship’s impact:
“The programme creates time and space to gain fresh perspectives on key themes, enabling research that is both innovative and meaningful.”
This renewed partnership underscores NIAS and the KB’s shared commitment to supporting forward-looking research that connects scholarship, society, and culture.
