About Sanne Blauw
Sanne Blauw is numeracy correspondent for De Correspondent, the Dutch online member-funded journalism platform which focuses on background, analysis and investigative reporting. She writes about bad statistics in the news, number fetishism, and what she calls the current “dictatorship of numbers”. Her articles cover topics such as happiness, poverty, migration, and election polls. Blauw has a background in econometrics. In 2014, she received her Ph.D. in Econometrics from the Erasmus University Rotterdam, for her thesis “Well-to-do or doing well? Empirical studies of wellbeing and development.”

About the Fellowship
The Journalist-in-Residence Fellowship is for journalists with a keen interest in scholarly research who need an extended period time to focus on a longer piece of journalistic writing. Previous fellows include Dirk van Delft, Aleid Truijens, Koen Haegens and Anne-Lot Hoek. The programme is a collaboration between NIAS and the Fonds Bijzondere Journalistieke Projecten.
