Open Call for NIAS Fellowship Applications 2017/18

21 January 2016
The Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS) is now opening the annual call for fellowship applications. This is an opportunity for those who wish to spend a period of time during the academic year 2017/18 to conduct research as a part of the NIAS community.

Individual and Theme-Group Fellowships

There are two kinds of fellowships that can be applied for: Individual fellowships and Theme-Group fellowships. An individual fellowship is for scholars who wish to work on an individual project for 5 or 10 months. Theme-Group fellowships are for  scholars who wish to work together with colleagues on a particular theme. They consist of up to five scholars, half from the Netherlands, the other half from other countries.

About NIAS Fellowships

NIAS offers time and space to interact with renowned scholars from different backgrounds. It provides researchers with an opportunity to spend time away from the everyday demands and constraints of the university system. The academic environment at NIAS is conducive to bring academic work to fruition while encouraging  the generation of new approaches and ideas.

NIAS Individual Fellowships are awarded to senior scholars to carry out advanced research in the humanities and the social sciences. Fellows have at least three years of post-PhD degree academic experience and have already made a considerable contribution to their field.

Deadlines

NIAS Individual Fellowships (for non-Dutch): 15 April 2016

Theme-Group Fellowships: 15 April 2016
