Jan Zielonka, born in Czarnowasy, Poland, in 1955. Ph.D. from the University of Warsaw. Associate Professor of International Relations at Leiden University.

My work was devoted to the tasks emerging from my participation in and coordination of the NIAS research project ‘Approaching Eastern Europe’. My research dealt with three main subjects: 1) Human rights and Security in East-West Relations, 2) Democratic Opposition in Eastern Europe, 3) Military Security in Europe.
