Fujian Province in South China had stood out from the Chinese Empire for its active role in the cultural and economic relationship between China and the outside world in the 18th century. My research explores the development of sprouts of capitalism in upland-Fujian with the promotion of foreign trade and the strong influence of international economic communication on the society of China in this period.
