In the NIAS-year I wrote a book on the ‘Innovation of higher education’ (in the Netherlands). It deals with the consequences that the major social changes of the second half of this century have for higher education. Furthermore, a proposal is generated for a new model of higher education, based upon an integration of the existing two systems of vocational colleges and universities in one new general system, consisting of three phases, each of them leading to a diploma.
