Willem-Albert Wagenaar, born in Utrecht, the Netherlands, in 1941. Ph.D. from Leiden University. Professor of Experiental Psychology at Leiden University. († 2011)

I participated in the work of the Research Theme Group “Law and Psychology”. The specific theme chosen by the group concerned the reasoning of judges considering legal evidence. This theme forced me to do three things: to study criminal law more closely, to study the psychology of narratives, and to collect empirical material on actual criminal trials.
