The aim of the project was to account for the way a hypothetical listener/hearer forms a mental picture of the temporal relations between the events and the states reported in narrative discourse. After a study of the most recent literature, a more elaborate analysis was worked out, the results and theoretical implications of which will be reported in a book, provisionally entitled Tense, aspect, and discourse representation.
