ANGLO-SAXON BUTTON BROOCHES: TYPOLOGY, GENEAOLOGY, CHRONOLOGY
AND THE METRES OF OLD NORSE EDDIC POETRY
I pursued two projects at NIAS. The first was: ‘Anglo Saxon Brooches: Typology, Geneaology and Chronology’; the second: ‘The Metres of Old Norse Eddic Poetry’. During my stay at NIAS I made extensive museum visits and built a comprehensive database of button brooches. I completed the first project and the resulting book: Anglo-Saxon Button Brooches: Typology, Geneaology, Chronology will be published by Boydell Press (Woodbridge, UK) in 2008 as part of the Anglo-Saxon Series. For the project on Old Norse Metres, I wrote several sections for a monograph entitled, Three-position Verses in Old Nose Fornyrƒislag Meter: Statistical and Comparative Perspectives, one of which is now under consideration for publication in a scholarly journal.
