COLLECTIVE ARBITRAL RELIEF FOR MASS INJURIES
As the Henry G. Schermers Fellow, my research focused on means of redressing large-scale legal disputes in the international realm. I completed (or substantially completed) six scholarly articles, one book chapter and one paper for lay audiences. The work that I conducted at NIAS will also form part of a book I am writing for Oxford University Press entitled “Class Arbitration and Collective Arbitration: Mass Claims in the National and International Spheres” (expected 2013). During my fellowship, I traveled to Spain, Austria and England to present at various universities or conferences, and attended professional events in France, Denmark and Belgium. My tenure at NIAS also gave me the opportunity to meet many new colleagues in the Netherlands, particularly in Amsterdam and The Hague, and to convene a three-day workshop in June that included an innovative works-in-progress element in addition to the standard speakers’ format.
