Kazuo Sato, born in Sapporo, Japan, in 1927. Ph.D. from Yale University, New Haven. Professor of Economics at Rutgers University, New Brunswick.

Fellow (1 September 1987 – 31 July 1988)

The main objective of my work during the tenure of my fellowship at NIAS has been to find ways to answer a question as to why the Japanese economy seems to function in a way different from other advanced economies, namely, those of the US and Western Europe.
