Within the theme group “The History of Dutch Concepts” I have been co ordinating the study of the concept of ‘fatherland’ and related concepts in Dutch history from the 16th till the 20th century. Work on this volume – one of the first two to appear in what is to become a new series – is now in its final stages.
Apart from the history of concepts I have been doing research for a book which I am writing together with Dr. F. Grijzenhout called “Denkbeeldig vaderland. Kunst en politiek in Nederland rond 1800” (An Imagined Fatherland: Art and Politics in the Netherlands around 1800).
