16th AND 17th CENTURY CENTRAL EUROPEAN IMPORTS OF MECHELEN AND ANTWERP ALABASTER WORKS

During my stay at NIAS I focused on the preparation of a revised, expanded and updated version of my doctoral book, which will be re-published in English in the series Studies in Netherlandish Art and Cultural History by Waanders Publishers in 2011 under the title “Moving sculptures. Southern Netherlandish alabaster sculpture and its spreading”. Second important achievement was an elaboration of a concept of an exhibition (“Matter of light and flesh. Alabaster in the sculpture of 16th and 17th centuries”), which will present the results of my research to the broader public during the shows at National Museum in Gdańsk and Koninklijke Musea voor Kunst and Geschiedenis in Brussels. I have profited a lot from NIAS research facilities as well as from interesting interdisciplinary contacts with other fellows.
