Jerzy Koch, born in Wroclaw, Poland, in 1958. Ph.D. from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. Head of the Department of Contemporary Netherlandish Literature at the University of Wroclaw.

The main thrust of my research was aimed at the history of Netherlandish literature of the 19th and 20th centuries. I worked also on the preparation for publication of the scientific issue of my translation of the great Dutch novel Max Havelaar (1860), and I began writing an Afrikaans-Polish bilingual dictionary
