The research project seeks to understand the role of cultural diversity in the process of developing and maintaining media pluralism in Eastern and Central Europe against the background of two major considerations: democratic consolidation and the enlargement of the European Union. It takes as its point of departure three fundamental questions: how has cultural diversity been institutionalised through the media? How is cultural diversity realised in the media practices in empirical terms and how, in given conditions, is it possible to introduce cultural diversity into media strategies as a principle to induce practical action? An intended manner of dissemination of the research results includes an article, entitled “Cultural diversity in the Polish media”.
