Aloysius van Kesteren, born in Woerden, the Netherlands, in 1942. Ph.D. from the VU University, Amsterdam. Assistant Professor of Theatre Studies at Leiden University.

I focused on various projects:

I rewrote and my doctoral dissertation entitled, Theatre Research: Methodology for a Young Science. Towards an Analytical Theatre;

I wrote a book on drama theory; and

a paper on theatre historiography;

I organised and edited a reader on drama theory and drama analysis, entitled Semiotics and Pragmatics of Theatre and Drama.
