Albert Kersten, born in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, in 1943. Ph.D. from Radboud University, Nijmegen. Assistant Professor of History at Radboud University, Nijmegen.

Fellow (1 September 1981 – 31 July 1982)

I completed an analysis of the aims of Dutch foreign policy following its policy of neutrality up until 1830. In combination, I made case studies of:

The war in the Far East (December 1941-March 1942) and the Dutch claim for its position in the Alliance against Japan;

The Netherlands and the European Defence Community, 1950-1954; and

Dutch-American relations in the John F. Kennedy era, 1961-1963, both bilateral and multilateral problems.
