Allan James, born in 1946.  Assistant Professor of English Linguistics at the University of Amsterdam.

Fellow (1 September 1990 – 30 June 1991)

During my NIAS year I was a member of the theme group working on “The Logical Problem of Language Acquisition”. Within this group I specialized on the area of phonology. In the period of my Fellowship I have completed two (one co-) edited volumes on phonological acquisition and the largest part of a monograph on the area (to be published in 1992/1993). In addition I have written five articles on the area, plus one review (on an unrelated topic).
